The American People Can't Afford Further Congressional Inaction on COVID Relief
29938 actions taken
62 needed to reach next goal
Unemployment benefits, the eviction moratorium, and many
other COVID programs are set to expire at the end of December. At the same
time, the number of people struggling to put food on their tables has
skyrocketed, millions of people remain unemployed, and the virus continues to spread at an astonishing rate.
Yet still, Congress has failed to pass a COVID relief bill.
The
consequences of inaction are severe. Lawmakers must not leave for the end of the year without passing a COVID
relief bill that:
- Increases Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP)
- Extends the enhanced unemployment benefits
- Provides emergency rental assistance
- Includes state fiscal relief
- Expands the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit so families can cover basic household expenses
- Includes international humanitarian assistance
